Washington Track & Field Academy

Summer 2025

Mission: The Washington Track & Field Academy was founded to meet the needs of youth track and field athletes in our community and athletes committed to standards of excellence and improvement.

Focus: Our club focuses on the sprints, hurdles, and multi-events (Coach Frey) and the throws (Coach Treich). While there may be opportunities for work in other events, that is not our primary focus and athletes may want to consider finding a club that better meets their needs in other events (we can recommend other clubs). With our small coaching staff, we are also focused on athletes in the 13-14 age group and older (high school and junior high aged students).

Timeline (Flexible): We will practice weekly on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays beginning June 9th (June 4th for those competing in the Washington State Combined Events Championships). Practices will begin at 3:15 on Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays through June 17th (we can be flexible for athletes traveling to practice) at Emerald Ridge. Starting June 23rd, practices will be in the mornings beginning at 9AM at Emerald Ridge. Practice time windows will vary based on days and event group (Ex. We may ask the hurdlers to report at 3:15 and sprinters to report at 4:15). These decisions will be based on athletes and coaching needs; coaches may adjust practice times, cancel, or add practices based on personal schedules and athlete needs. We plan to hold practices until at least July 17. Coach Treich will be at practices on Monday and Tuesday for throwers.

Cost:

·       Emerald Ridge Athletes: $125 (Includes all meet entry fees).

·       Non-Emerald Ridge Athletes: $325 (Includes all meet entry fees).

·       Non-Emerald Ridge Mult-Event Athletes: $425 (Includes all meet entry fees).

Uniform Cost:

·       Athletes can choose to purchase a uniform top from our GearUp store, or they can compete in their uniform of choice. Athletes can wear shorts/spandex of their choosing. Additional team gear also available.
